I didn't see a topic on this, but I just requested my invitation on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). They told me to expect about 5 days.

Someone in my knitting group sent in her request and was told 5 days and was still waiting as of yesterday. Her 5 days was yesterday.

Can't wait to get started! My projects for Project Linus and gifts along with my stash are going on it.

When you get on it look for some of your friends from here. Many of us are on it and it is a blast. There is a TKGA group you can join. Be prepared for it to take up a lot of your time----which can be a good thing. I love seeing everyone's work such talented people out there in the knitting world.

I joined over a year ago and the wait then was well over a month so just wait good things come to those who wait.

Knitski and on Raverly as well!

I got my invitation about 6 or 7 days after I requested it, but then couldn't get to it until yesterday. So now I'm a member, but have no clue how to find anyone.
I saw the boards that were listed, but found that just before I had to go offline, so maybe I'll check that out tomorrow.
I spent the better part of 1/2 hour just looking around. Be prepared for several user name ideas. I had to try about 10 things before I came up with one that wasn't already in use. I'm KnityGirl on Ravelry. DianaD. was already taken. Frowner

When you sign in, you will see a row of tabs at the top of the page for "people," "groups," "forums," etc. Click on "people" and type in the name of the person you're looking for. You'll be taken to her/his home page.

If you want to join a group, click on "groups" and type in a topic you're interested in (eg, spinning, charity knitting, TKGA, your home town, etc.) and you'll be presented with a list. Click on "join this group" and you're in. If you don't find the group interesting, click on "leave this group." You can also participate in groups as a guest.

There is a great deal to discover in Ravelry, and it takes time to explore (okay, it can be a major time suck). But it's a great resource for patterns, information and people. I suspect people from this group will be sending PMs to KnityGirl. Look for notification on the top right of the page.
Edited to add: I just did!

Got my invitation today!

I'm salevy on Ravelry.

Much to add to it. Already added some crochet hooks, a project to be done and one in progress. I can see this is going to take a lot of time as I also want to add my stash to it as well.

I'm obscure on Ravelry (and Knitter's Review which I rarely visit). It's good to have an "obscure" name!

Ravelry is overwhelming at first, but you soon find a few favorites. For instance "Rox Rocks." Yes, "our own" Rox has Ravelry fans who've started a group.

During the election, I found a group doing charity projects. (If you look me up and see the groups I'm in you'll know my political leanings.)

I do like the needle organizer and have been working on my "library," and wish list of projects in que--I'm sure that will become several lifetimes' worth.

It's fun to see how many people have completed a project you have done, or are thinking of. How they've changed yarns, modified patterns, etc.

And if it wasn't for Ravelry, I wouldn't be checking in on the Shiba Inu puppycam daily--that came about through a strange chain of links...

I'm sheepswool on Ravelry-sheepish was taken. I haven't looked at Ravelry for months and have never explored it much. Maybe I should.

Isn't that hilarious that I have a fan club? It's an honor, believe me, but you should have seen the look on my 11 year old's face last night when I showed her that there were people who actually were interested in things I had to say. About knitting. I think her world started spinning on a different axis.

I'm shamefully using the people in the group to my own advantage. A number of people on Ravelry have encouraged me to write a knitting techniques book, so I am, and I'm mining the group for ideas and feedback.

As for those Shiba Inu puppies...I think my husband clued me in on that site, but I check in almost every day. Cutest thing ever.

Rox,
I had always wondered if you might be writing a book! Good for you!

All my project (started and unstarted) are now on and some of my needles and crochet hooks are also on.

Need to go through the books, my stash, and the rest of the hooks and needles before they go on.

Never realized it was so huge! Nice to keep everything organized.
