Hello. I am knitting pattern #8 (mens shawl collar sweater) from patons pattern book "Jet Mens" #1266. I can't seem to get the cable effect right. It turns into a big mess of moss stitch. I am fairly new to cables but am starting to think there is an error in the pattern not my knitting as I have counted and re counted and unpicked and re knitted countless times.
Has anyone successfully knitted this jumper or is there anywhere that patons publishes corrections/errors in their patterns?

If the pattern book is new, they should have their website listed in it somewhere, maybe on the back cover or just inside the front cover. If you're using Paton's yarn (which I'm sure every pattern in the book calls for), the website is probably listed on the ball band somewhere. If all that fails, do a Google search. Then at their website, see if they have a page dedicated to errata, or click on the "contact us" link and let them know about your problem.
And if all that fails, you could post a copy of the part of the directions you're having trouble with here and someone might be able to tell you if there is a problem and how to fix it.

Thnakyou - have found the page at the patons website where they publish corrections (there are quite a few errors listed there!) but the pattern i am using is not listed. I will give it yet one more go but take more careful note of my problem and take up your other suggestions - thankyou.
In the meantime if anyone else has successfully knitted the pattern i would love to know as this would mean it is me with the problem not the pattern.
