Hi all
maybe i am just stupider than most but i have looked in all my references and cannot find the term "rib row." On page 5 of the Basics course it is explaining the long tail cast on method, asking us to notice the smooth or bumpy side and pick one side consistently that we will use for the "public side" of the garment. That is all well and good and understood. Then however it seems to change topics--to number of rows of ribbing. It asks us to tally our rib rows and I am not sure how we got here from casting on. Further, on page 6, it jumps right into increasing. What happened, am I totally not understanding? I do understand that both sides of a sweater need to be consistent in the number of stiches and rows and how you began them from the cast on edge, but all of my references refer to rib or ribbing as K1P1 or some multiple thereof. Did the lesson jump from casting on to ribbing?

okay
i think i will answer my own question. apparently our first swatch will deal with ribbing and so i now understand why this is introduced early on. now it flows that care should be taken to work the same number of rows of ribbing when making the sweater. Then page 6 refers to what will be expected in swatch one as well. okay got it! sorry all!
