Hi everyone!
I'm excited to be part of TKGA! I have been a knitter for many years. I worked in a yarn store and helped customers with problems back in the 80's. Now my passion is to design my own sweaters and possibly publish patterns. There is always something new to learn and I'm sure all of you can teach me many things. I'm looking forward to sharing ideas, thoughts, tips, and reading your emails!

Welcome !!!

I hope you enjoy your stay.

This is a wonderful group to bounce ideas, questions, etc. off of.
Learning and sharing are what knitters do best IMO. We learn so much by someone just asking a question. It activates our brain cells to solve, examine, swatch, etc., or just pass on a better way of accomplishing a stitch or project.

We pop in from time to time, just to say hi.

Hope you have a good time here, it is very nice to meet you.

I, too, want to do my own designs. When I want to make something, say a sweater or slippers, I don't think of finding a pattern I like; I think up a pattern. Everyone here has given me wonderful advice and support, and I'm sure you'll find the same. Welcome to the Guild!

I've been reading some older emails and I've already learned some things. I have decided to take the Master Level 1 knitting class. I think it's a great idea to get someone to look at your work and let you know where you need improvement. If you don't make mistakes, you don't learn. If no one tells you when you make mistakes, they then become bad habits.

Thanks all for your responses!

Knit nut,
The Masters isn't so much a class as an 'open book' test of your skills. Unlike the other courses offered by TKGA there is no time limit to getting the Masters work done. This is true of the machine knitting as well as the hand knitting. I am currently working on Level 2 of the handknitting course and it's going slow but I'm getting there.
You will find lots of advice, helpful hints, and friendly people here. Even if two people give you opposite advice, there are no hard feelings. At least here you can say that the advice you get is worth more than you paid for it! Wink
So welcome and enjoy your time with us. We always love to meet new people.
