I just received my package with the Basics, Basics, Basics course. I have bought my yarn and will begin to try to locate all my knitting books. I am really looking forward to the class! I have been knitting for 40 years but I have never had a teacher except my mother's first lesson on knit and purl. Thanks for the web page!

Hi Sharon, I just signed up for the Basics, Basics, Basics course yesterday; I'm excited too! How long did it take for your materials to arrive? Is the yarn required specified by brand, color, etc? or just "light colored worsted yarn?

Good luck with the course! It's cool to have a bbs for all of us to chat.

Hello! Just enrolled in BBB as well.

I think this is going to be a great learning experience.

Half of me is excited and half apprehensive. Need to manage the perfectionist in me. LOL!

I'm checking my mailbox every day!

"We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

How is everyone doing that just started the BBB course? I just started on swatch 1 over the weekend. I'm not quite finished with the k2p2 ribbing. I'm trying to decide on my increases - should I go the easy route - and not space them evenly (no purl increases) - or try the purl increase.

I will try to get back to it this weekend.

I got mine last week, and have done some practice swatches to see what I like. I think this is fascinating and fun. I've always followed patterns and never really thought about what I was doing or why. It's so interesting to see the different effects and to understand why some stitches look better than others.

Hi,
I got my Basics course via e-mail about a week ago and just bought the yarn I will need so am ready to start, along with all of you. I am a self-taught knitter, first as a kid and I started up again about 7 years ago when all the fabulous new yarns started to emerge.
Look forward to comparing notes as we go along.

Hi castoffjan! I'm just getting ready to send off my first batch of swatches and answers. It's like going on a first date! I have no idea what to expect. The preparation was great fun, though.

Hi everyone: I just received my basics package on Tuesday the 26th. I finished my first swatch today and I like it. I will start my second swatch and I think I will block all of them at the same time right before I mail. Is that the best way or should I block each one at completion?

Hi Everyone,
I sent in my Lesson 1 package yesterday. It's amazing how there is always something new to learn. BTW, there has been discussion about Montse Stanley's work being out of print. I had never heard of her. But today, I was at Fabric Place store and by chance saw a book that I bought called "Simply Fabulous Knitting" Based on the work of Montse Stanley. It's fabulous and I can see why Arenda would recommend her. The book was published in 2006. It's ISBN Nos. are 978-0-7153-2177-5 and 0-7153-2177-3. It is a large size paperback.
