All right, I'm bragging. I have lost almost 50 pounds in the past year and I'm still losing, I hope. My question is, what do I do with three Kaffe Fasset style sweaters, lots of color work and not much shaping, that are now way too big. Do I just give them away or is there some way to retrieve them for my use. If I can retrieve them, how do I do that?

Remove the sleaves, unpick the sides, borrow a serger and remove the extra width , restitch the sides, replace the sleaves, bingo new sweater. if you have doubts on the permanency of the new figure (congrats, it takes a lot of work to do it) restitch the edges for the new size without removing the extra. It may look a bit bulky , at the same time having the option of widening if needed can be a comfort.
Good on you for making the changes. I hope they can be a permanent part of your health and wellness plan.

If it is substanial, and it sounds like you worked hard on your new you, how about making a bag out of your too large sweater. I don't have the pattern to direct you to, but I have seen MANY of them. Convert sweaters to bags/purses/totes. Good luck with that, and congratulations. I wish I could do what you did, I keep falling off the wagon.

Congratulations! I too have taken in some clothes lately, but no sweaters. I would try the serger thing first.

Congrats on doing what I am trying to do (again). As to the too large sweaters, why not make pillows out of them. Years ago when I was quite sick and lost 9 dress sizes, I took several very elaborate sweaters, tucked the sleeves inside and stuffed them. They are still being used on the couch and I still get new people asking where in heck I got such great pillows!! But,many people who wear size 1 clothes love to wear size 42 sweaters, so it's all in what the person likes. I don't like tight clothes even when a small size, so would still wear them.
But also am glad you reminded me that I wanted to get out my books to make some of the same sweaters by him.

I dream of climbing mountains, hunting and going fishing with the kids. Then I wake up.
