I have to make an extra large hat for a man. The instructions I have are for children to adult sizes. The largest calls for 88 sts., going up to 11inches before decreases. Could I use 98 sts. going up to 12inches, then using same decreases. This is a very simple 2k,2p stretchy hat and I have made many. thnx

Should work just fine - but if you do a 2x2 rib you'll want a number divisible by 4 - maybe 100?
