Here is a question to the adm. of the board.

Would there ever be a way for us to post small jpgs of our finished work or work in progress on the board?

I was thinking we have so many talented folks here who knit wonderful peices it would be nice to see them.

You could have a page for sweaters, socks, small items, home items . . . May be the photos would only be up for ten days or so and then they would be removed. So it would be a dynamic site that would be changing. This way we could have a quick look at some work--celebrate with who ever made it---without having to have a BLOG!!!

You would most likely be the first board to do something like this!!!???

As a guild it would be a great way promote our WORK!

Just a thought! What do others think!?

What a great idea. Think of the many uses of posting pictures. We could show our latest work, show our latest conundrum and ask questions as to how to fix a problem, what went wrong, etc, or we could, as Nancy said, celebrate with others when a project is finished. I hope this is something that is accomplished by the board.

I brought your request to staff's attention, and I know they are looking into it, but were uncertain if it would be possible. Be patient, they are aware!

We are sorry, but TKGA will not be offering this service at this time.

The focus of TKGA is on messaging and giving people access to answers and discussions on knitting topics. Some of you will recall that in the past the Message Board had problems with things moving at a crawl. It was because of the limits of that Board and its space allotments. It became so critical that we had to immediately move to the new Board to give us more space.

Even though more space is available, now, TKGA has to pay more if we go over certain allotments.

TKGA provides this Board FREE and it is open to anyone – not just to TKGA members. To be able to keep it that way, TKGA recommends that if Board users want people to see their knitted items, they should share a link to their own Web site where viewing can be done. TKGA wants everyone to be able to be a part of this message board and not have to restrict it. There is so much we can learn from each other!

Thanks for understanding.

I think that's a fine idea. I'm barely literate on the subject, but I do understand that pictures on a message board use up an unholy amount of bandwidth, slowing down and clogging the works, so to speak. Many of us have blogs or Web sites, and many others store their pictures on sites like Flickr. Links to these would be fine for showing off our work.

I tried to respond yesterday and my machine was not letting me! Not sure what that was all about.

I certainly understand the space issue and was trying not to have a BLOG! But may be I need to break down and do the BLOG thing!

Of course one would have to restrict photo sizes and all that and only allow the photos to be up for so many days. Not for a life time, and size would be so important.

It is just an idea . . . in a perfect world it would be great! I agree that I would rather keep this board small, friendly and helpful!

May be there would be some grant out there that would support the fiber arts and give us free storage--eeehhh---eehehhhhh!!

Happy knitting!

Nancy
