I am looking for Software to design dog sweaters and other garments on the Mac. I would like to know if anyone has found a program that works well. I am using OX10 10.5.6 Leopard.

I found information regarding Cochenille has anyone used this software for the Mac. Do you know if dog sweaters can be designed on it?

Hey, Neighbor! (I see you're from Warwick; I'm on Aquidneck Island.)

I do not have experience with Cochinelle (because a download of the demo requires Stuffit 10 and I only have 6), but it seems to be well-regarded. The author of one of my knitting books uses it.

I don't know about dog sweaters, though!

I tried to download the site also and I do not have stuffit. I called Cochennile office today and they were at Stitches. I would love to speak to your friend who uses it can you give her my email yourbooks@cox.net. Have you heard there is a great yarn shop on Hope St in Prov called Fresh Purls. Nice folks to do business with.

I used to own a yarn boutique on Oaklawn Ave in Cranston named the knitting Lodge did you ever visit my store. I closed in 96.

No, I didn't get to RI until '99. Must have been nice to have a yarn store!

I don't personally know the author who referred to using the software--sorry!

Good Morning Rachel,

Do you know the name of the book and the authors name I would like to read what she has to say about the program.

There is a program Great Knit Designs that I found on the web and I emailed the company. It states that they have a program that I think is titled Critter Designs. They sent me to a link for the Mac that says Leopard has a program built into it that is called Boot Camp and you can run any Windows app on it. She said that her program will work with Boot Camp or Virtual PC. I have Virtual PC and I do not like it. It is very slow and difficult to get around in. Also, Great Knit Designs has not been upgraded since 2005. Cochennile has a Mac version and states that it is coming out with a new version soon. I just need to find out if I can design dog sweaters on it.

Thank you for your input. Do you have a Mac? I am enjoying speaking with you.

What kind of Knitting do you like to do? Where do you shop for your yarn?

The book just mentions using the program and then includes the URL in the reference section.

Have you emailed the Cochinelle people and asked them if the software lets you design dog sweaters?

Rachel,

Thank you for the information on the book.

I called them on thursday and they were at stitches. So I will call again tomorrow.

I guess we are going to have quite a storm tonight. I am glad I am retired and I do not have to go out in it. I think it is going to be a nasty one.

Hi Neighbors! (I'm in southeastern Mass, just over the line from Pawtucket and Cumberland)

Have you checked out these software programs?

http://www.blackcatsystems.com...knitting_wizard.html
http://www.knittingsoftware.com/sockwizardmac.htm
http://www.knittingsoftware.co...wizard/swatchwiz.htm

I found just three that looked useful. The blackcatsystems.com one looks like the best.
Have you ever used graph paper to plan out your own patterns? I created my own, because stitches are not square and it's weird realizing you have n't got a good pattern.

Thanks for the invitation! But I still work for a living, and due to health issues I've stopped making commitments for my evenings. (I'm basically turning into an old fogey!)

Peggy - that would be Attleboro. It's the only "boro"in the state that doesn't use the "ough" ending. Smiler
