A potentially silly question: are dreadlocks felted?
(Perhaps more importantly, is this question evidence of a knitting problem? Or how about a little Jeff Foxworthy paraphrase?: "If you wake up in the middle of the night wondering if you can knit your neighbor's hair . . . you may be a . . . knitter.) |

It may be evidence of a knitting problem-and yes I think dreadlocks are felted. The only way to get rid of them is to cut them off-right? And you get them by just not combing your hair? They must take forever to dry...I'll keep brushing mine.

Yes they are felted, and once they are up and functioning you just wash them like regualr hair. I asked an aquaintence about hers and she says that they are less trouble than her hair un dreaded. hers reach down almost to her knees and she just treats them like thick hair.

Thanks to Mary40, I have a great idea for a new thread: You might be a knitter if.....
I'll start off with this one. You might be a knitter if... you wonder how your soft, long-haired cat would look shaved so you can turn her fur into yarn! Diana |

Pink and bald and really really scrawny.
You might be a knitter if you are in a hard ware store and consider if o rings might be good stitch markers. |

Hi. I'm the founder of the Harlem Knitting Circle and I have loc's. I laughed when I read that post because I never thought of that, but yes..., loc's(dreads has a negative connotation), are felted! Just one more thing for me to share with my students! lol
