I would love to hear ideas for topics at guild meetings that members have used.
Do you have demonstrations, lessons, guest speakers, etc?

We have about 9 open meetings each year at my guild. Two of the months are taken up by registration only work shops and the December meeting is a holiday party limited to guild members only.

For our open meetings, we have a program that is usually taught by one of the guild members but we have also had trunk shows, yarn tasting, etc. The programs are about 30-40 minutes in length and can be done workshop style where someone teaches a technique, to lecture style where someone talks about a technique or understanding of knitting.

I've personally done short programs on the general structure of knitting, the structure of the long tail cast-on, double knitting technique, the magic loop technique, and helped with a yarn tasting and structure of a sock talk. Others have done programs on particular stitch patterns, knitting backwards, working a tam pattern, dyeing, short rows, etc.
