i know there are lots of creative knitterzz/crocheterzzz out there and i would really appreciate your ideazzz Smiler
i volunteered again to make a raffle prize and i just can't decide what to make..in the past i have made giant green snakes Smiler which are popular and fun, but i need somethin' new. Everyone makes afghans, you know? and this will be something that hopefully a lot of kids will be attending, so i want it to be something that will attract kids of all ages.
i've been mooning over the enchanted castle by Jan Messent, but honestly i think it's too much for me right now, besides i can't embroider..and i was looking at someone's pattern for a horse purse that's really cute and another one for a knitted rocket with aliens and astronauts.
i thought of a basket or box of knitted items...but what?
thanks in advance Smiler

How about puppets or finger puppets? I'm pretty sure I've seen some patterns out on the Web.

It's been a while seen I've seent these, but at one time I had patterns to make stuffed animals. I had 2 booklets to make dogs and another booklet to make dragons.

I also had a couple of booklets to make plants, such as spider plants and coleus.

Not sure if they exist anymore. It's been about 15-20 years since I saw them.

You could try Googling any of these and see what you come up with.

i have a pattern for a puzzle afghan that is really cute and would appeal to younger kids. it's from a Vanna White book which i have used so much that the pages are falling out Smiler
i thought maybe a "Twister" blanket would be funny..
mostly i need to make something large enough that it's worth being a prize and something that would attract kids of all ages. i found a pattern for a PJ bag but it's a pink kitty Smiler and probably would not appeal to boys, or even to girls past the age of two Smiler so i don't know yet..
i love making stuffed animals and i have more patterns for those than i am willing to admit Smiler
that's why the snake was sooo cool Smiler it's about 6 feet long and about 10 inches around, green, black, yellow and a red mouth. it's completely dorky and kids love it. i just felt like it was time to make something new.
if i could make a giant dinosaur that might work but the dinosaur patterns i have are more cutesy than large Smiler
if only i were able to make it up!!!!

I found a Noah's Ark pattern which looked like fun. There's also a collection of knitted vegetables and fruits. I've thought of the fish from Dr Seuss's "One Fish, Two Fish" or the Wild Things from "Where the Wild Things Are"

SmilerLion has a pattern for a pond alligator. At least they did about a year ago. It is about 30 or so inches long and pretty neat. Pattern is free, their help if you have questions is free, so how can you lose. Grace, Love and Prayers. God Bless.

i wonder how a basket of things would work? maybe several baskets? because it would be easy to make a "household" collection and then one for kids? i just don't know!! i am crazy!! Smiler
maybe i should just make the darned snake Smiler
i was hoping that i could think of a relatively large item that would be visible across the gym the way the snake is, you know?
A giant kangaroo would be fun if only i knew how Smiler i have a book of patterns for many animals, including several for kangaroos but i don't know that i could make it larger without it turning out looking like a blob Smiler
i shouldn't be writing! i just had my morning coffee and it's afternoon!!!!

I made Phyllis Tucker's Garter Stitch elephant for my niece. It's really a quick knit. Here's the link:
