I would like to hear from members about their locations for guild meetings. In particular, how many people meet at their LYS and, if so, does your LYS charge for meeting there?

About two years ago, we started meeting at our LYS after they moved to a new larger location. We are paying a rather hefty amount for meeting there twice a month (one morning meeting and one evening meeting). Since members invaribly buy merchandise in the store before and after the meetings, I think they should welcome us there and appreciate our business.

The local guild that I am a part of meets in a church that graciously doesn't charge anything. Our guild does give a donation at the end of the year for the use -- but this is not expected by the church -- they are very nice.

I wouldn't think the LYS would charge either. I belong to an Extension group that meets in the church's parish house and they don't charge but we do give a donation at the end of the year.We do turn up the heat and use the stove and hot water.

Our LYS charges $20/evening that we meet there. We pay in $2 each, if there's more than $20 we save it for the evenings when fewer than 10 folks show. Works for us. Smiler

My guild meets once a month at a church and we pay monthly rent of $100. We have a membership roster of over 80 and about 40 show up for each guild meeting. The rental fee also pays for some space in a storage closet where we can keep a guild "library."
