It seems to change every year. what are this years summer favorites recipes for you?
DH is enjoying Chai milkshakes, and yogurt and fruit smoothies. One cup vanilla Ice cream and 1/2 cup packaged Chai run in a blender. I use the blender a lot more now that I found out that a pint mason jar fits on the opening, so I can blend small amounts without having to wash the big pitcher thing and hunt up the lid. We sure do have a lot of jars in the dishwasher.

No new recipes, but hopefully revisiting some old favorites now that I have a decent garden. It's been a pretty cool summer so far so my peas are doing fine. The tomatoes are slowly getting bigger and might ripen in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to be buried in green beans. My zuchini plant is giagantic!! And for the first time ever, I planted honeydew and cantaloupe. Yum!! Already harvested a bunch of radishes and they were perfect.

Gazpacho and Tabooli. They aren't like Mama used to make because I don't think she had ever heard of either of them, but they sure are good. They go together fast, use lots of good veggies, are nice and cool, and last for several meals each. Yum

I cook everything I can on the grill so it keeps the house cooler. Lots of veggies on the grill, and even some fruit.

If anyone remembers, a while back I mentioned that I planted some red raspberry bushes. I got my first ripe berries the other day, and they were wonderful! I was surprised that bushes that were planted this year would produce, but there are even more flowers and baby berries, so I might get enough to freeze to put in my yogurt. Yum yum!

I'm hooked on what Red Robin calls "Freckled Lemonade" - it's lemonade with pureed and whole strawberries in it. I can make that at home using frozen strawberries - very yummy!

My daughter ordered an apple-mint smoothie in a restaurant and I ended up finishing it. I'm not sure smoothie is the right name for it, but it had one part apple juice, one part lemon juice, two parts mint leaves and was blended together with ice. So refreshing and different. A good way to use that mint that is threatening to overtake my garden.
