Does anyone know of a good pattern for a Christmas tree skirt? (Obviously, not for this year ... I'm not THAT crazy.)

Thanks!

I too would like to make a nice tree skirt for next year. Knit or Crocher, either will work for me. Doesn't anyone have any suggestions?

Okay here goes: (although I think several of the ones CC posted are really nice!)
Tree Skirt
Baby pompadour yarn--use 2 strands
10 or 11 skeins
Size I hook

This skirt is made extra full at beginning to cover the legs of the tree stand.

1. Ch 36, sc in each ch st., ch 1, turn.
2. Crochet in BACK LOOPS ONLY for remainder of skirt*. 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * across, ch 3, turn.
3. dc in each sc, ch 1, turn.
4. sc in each dc, ch 3, turn. Keep ends even.
5. dc in 1st sc twice, *dc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc,*, repeat to end, ch 1, turn.
6. sc in each dc, ch 3, turn.
7. dc in each sc, EXCEPT increase in every 5th sc.
8. same as row 4. Work EVERY OTHER ROW the same as row 4 for remainder of skirt.
9. dc in each sc, increase in every 11th st.

11. Increase dc in each 8th st.
13. Increase dc in each 6th st.
15. Increase dc in each 5th st.
17. Increase dc in each 5th st.
19. Increase dc in each 5th st.
21. Increase dc in each 6th st.
23. No increase.
25. No increase.
27. No increase.
Rows 29,31, and 33 increase every 12th st.
Row 35. Increase every 15th st.
Row 37. Increase every 20th st.
Row 39. Work even.
Row 41. Work even.
Row 43. Work even until skirt is desired size.

I made two of these because then it covers a larger area under the tree. I also crocheted an edging just because I felt like it Smiler
Good luck!!

There is also a lovely skirt in Handknit Holidays...I think that is the name of Melanie Falick's new book.
