I am looking for some old Christmas stocking patterns. I had one that was Gingerbread Children but can't find it anymore. Would also like to find a Snowman or Reindeer or other wimsical patterns to knit for Children. Thanks, Sheralyn

Try Googling
"Vintage Knitting Patterns" (no quotes).
There are several sites that specialize in them and you might find what you're looking for. Look under "Knitting Books" on eBay, too. Someone just sold a whole batch of stocking pattern leaflets.

Here's one with Santas, trees, children's figures that could easily be gingerkids, plus a space for a child's name.

Dear Sheralyn,

BaaBaa and other regular visitors to this board will not be surprised when my advice to you is "Make it up"

Print off some knitters graph paper, from this site Draw a stocking shape on it with your snowman. Knit in red every stitch within the shape, increasing or decreasing where necessary, and placing the snowman with white in intarsia fashion. Reverse the shap for the other side. Sew the pices together.

If you can knit you can always design your own things - until 120 years ago there was no alternative - knitting meant designing.

Whoever is the child who receives your unique stocking will be delighted.

Best wishes, John

I knit, therefore I am.

Not in the least surprised, John, and, as usual, your advice is sterling.
