Hi,

I have been requested to knit a few doll sweaters for My niece's daughters dolls. I will ask at school tomorrow if any of my students has an American Girl Doll so I can get some sizing to knit up a few sweaters. I am going to go to Ravelry in a few minutes but thought I would start here.

Anyone have any links to America Girl Doll Sweaters just so I can get a few ideas??

Thanks!

I've got an old pattern somewhere of a scottie dog sweater set for American Girl. I'll try to dig it out and at least give you measurements, etc. It might not be until this evening, so my apologies for the delay....

Thanks!

I did look on Ravelry and there are some there as well. I have not had time to look at them yet. Some measurements would be great. I am not sure if there is a theme they are after, but the dolls are not that small or to large so anything should knit up very fast.

Here's a pattern that I printed out years ago, but never made:
Edelweiss Jacket

Here's some direction for a basic sweater. I never wrote down finished measurements, but this is what to do.

Using worsted weight and US8 needles, gauge of 9st & 12r = 2in.
FRONT: CO 30st. K 4 rows.
Beg with a K row, work even in st st until total length is 3.5 inches. BO 1 st beg next 2 rows for armholes. Work even until armholes measure 3.5 inches. Now work in k1p1 ribbing for 3 rows. BO in ribbing.

BACK: Work as for front.

SLEEVES: Begin at lower edge, CO 28 st. K 2 rows. Beg with K row, work in st st, increasing 1 st ea side every 6th row 2 times. Work even until total length is 3.5 inches. BO.

FINISHING: Lap front neck ribbing over back neck ribbing and sew at armhole edges. Sew sleeves into armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Good luck. I guessing this will at least get you started; you can improvise as you wish.

Thanks! I did get a doll from a friends daughter! Now I should be able to work through all of this designing part and come up with a few sweaters.

I think it will be a nice break from my XL ladies size.

Thanks again.

Most of the patterns I have for AG dolls do not give any measurements - one book - "Knits for Girls and Dolls" by Charlene Schurch gives a 14 inch chest size. I would think any pattern for an 18" doll would work. If you would like some specific measurements I have a Kirsten doll and would be glad to measure for you, just let me know what measurements you want.

I now have a doll from a friends daughter and am all set. She is larger than I thought which is good.

Yep, we are down to 23F and the skiff of snow we are supposed to get by tomorrow afternoon is almost 3 inches deep right now. Got the last cherry tomato from the garden today, so guess winter is hitting on all cylinders.
Have 2 stoles, 1 shawl and 2 praying hands scarves OTN and hope to get them all done by next Monday as I want to get them in the mail. The scarves are done using dishcloth patterns. My only concern is how much steam it takes to kill acrylic when I block them. Usually just make them, toss in the wash and it's good, but these are going to cancer victims so want them blocked so they don't have to mess with them as they are pretty lacey and I want the pattern to show nice.

I dream of climbing mountains, hunting and going fishing with the kids. Then I wake up.

Got an email from Bernat to check out new patterns I was going through the site last night and in their childrens and toy booklets there is a sweater pattern for an American doll. Wrote down the link but today somene has borrowed my notpad and I can't find it again, but you might check their site if you want the pattern for the dolls.

That would be great thanks! I haven't started it up yet as I just realized the mitten I thought was almost done but the thumb has to me a rather large ooooooooops! So I am debating if I should pull it all the way out or knit the other with the same oooooooooops in it!

Dang it all!

I apologize for my post. It was Berroco that had the American Girl doll. That will teach me to have something written next to computer when I post something about another website. Don't know why my brain attaches itself to the written word instead of what I intend to say.
