Hi! I'm looking for this issue for the specific pattern on pages 11-14. It's a lovely lace shawl. Does anyone have this pattern by chance? Thanks so much in advance for your time and help!
Why don't you make your own shawl? If you consider you have the skills to knit one, then you have the skills to make something unique for which you don't need a pattern.
Best wishes, John
I knit, therefore I am.

Thanks to those that responded about the Cast On magazine pattern. A very nice person has responded and is sending that to me. Thanks for taking the time to help. RockinTucson
Dearest John, this is for you: I am sure we all appreciate your kind encouragement of individual creativity - you have given many of us the courage to design our own "whatevers"; sweaters, childrens clothing and yes, shawls. But sometimes a pattern designed by someone else hits us just right and we absolutely HAVE to make it. I remember you made your wife a shawl directly from the pages of IK, and I am sure it was no less beautiful just because someone else had designed it; your workmanship made it special.
Another reason: If I want to make a Norwegian ski sweater, I know enough about them to design my own and have done so in the past. But for sentimental reasons, I return time and time again to ready-made patterns with traditional backgrounds. The "Remember when?" factor is strong...
What we knit depends on our own level of knitting skill, but is strongly influenced by glossy pictures in expensive knitting books and magazines. Cheers to you, John, for telling us that "you can do it yourself!" and urging us to become our own designers and better, more imaginative, knitters. Thanks!
