Max,
Did you try a Google search? Sometimes you can find things that others here might not know about. I know there is a Woolrich outlet here in PA, but you're not coming here. But maybe if you go to websites of companies you're interested in, you might find something that way too. DianaD. (KnityGirl on Ravelry) |

I immediately thought of Elmore-Pisgah, the company that makes Peaches 'n' Creme and many other yarns. They're in Old Fort, North Carolina. Their web site mentions a shop in Old Fort that carries some of their products, but it does not appear to be a mill ends shop -- just a retailer. Here's the information anyway.
Pinwilz, 48 Main St., Old Fort, NC, 828-668-1070. www.taasq,com Sorry I can't offer other addresses, but I just did a Google search and couldn't find much, except in the Midwest and Canada. Like everything else, the mill end business seems to have gone online. I also suspect that a lot of the old Southern and New England yarn mills are now either out of business, offshore, or making yarn for manufacturing use. An online mill ends shop with a good reputation is cottonclouds.com Also: pacificyarnandfiber.com On eBay, check a seller named knittersparadisebrian. He (or they) carry mill ends from Lion Brand, Caron, Red Heart, Patons and more. He has 100% positive feedback. Lion Homespun is $7.99 for three skeins. Personally, I have bought HUGE bags of Mission Falls mill ends from nana_cindy on eBay. The yarn is gorgeous and the service is excellent. So maybe you can do your yarn shopping from the comfort of home and just enjoy your trip to Florida. BaaBaa (on Ravelry as well) |

Change isn't always all it's cracked up to be.
Stay as loving and adventurous as you are, Max, and keep knitting those afghans. BaaBaa (on Ravelry as well) |

Max,
How hard is it to grow asparagus? I love the stuff and recently expanded my garden. I imagine it's too late to start some for this year. But I would like to try to grow some. DianaD. (KnityGirl on Ravelry) |

Well, once everything is in my garden, I just watch too!
We've lived where we are for 21 years, so I expect we'll be here a while longer. I've wanted to grow asparagus ever since I discovered I actually liked it. By then I was down to a tiny garden with no room. I know that you need to establish a permanent place for them. I'm going to see if my local greenhouse has some plants. If not, then I guess I'll mail-order some from Burpee Co. Ask your personal gardener what the best type is, like easy to maintain, doesn't get diseases easily, etc. I'm hoping to have seeds for peas and beans planted soon, it's warming up and the ground seems ready. I'm hoping to get my tomatoes and peppers in a couple of weeks as well. DianaD. (KnityGirl on Ravelry) |

I just picked up some gorgeous asparagus this morning, from a local farm. Some were purple, and some are three times as tall as the ones at the supermarket. I've had the white ones, too. I haven't yet found a variety that I didn't like.
