I'm looking for a knitting pattern for mittens I made in the late '60's. They looked like a dogs head (fingers in the upper part of mitten and thumb in lower part). By moving fingers and thumb apart it looked like the dog opened his mouth (which was knitted red). Knitted ears were attached. Hard to describe but very cute. Can anyone help ?

Do a search right on this page-go to find and type in animal mittens. I think the first one will get you what you are looking for.

Sheepish I was going to say the same thing . . . as I know this topic has come up before!

Fantacat you could check knitty.com as well as I think they have something like this on their site as well.

Hi And thank you both for quick response. I really appreciate the help. I would like to add some new information that I found. Go to leisureartslibrary.com and type a search for puppet mittens and Leaflet 2275 will come up for you. The price is $3.99, no tax or shipping because you can purchase online and download it immediately to Adobe and print it out. The mittens are "just a little" different than the ones I made before but are great anyway and I can make any adjustments. Thank again for help and I hope anyone looking for this pattern sees this.

The animal mitten patterns you are describing, I believe were made by the Leisure Arts company. If you go to their web page, I believe you will see where you can order that brochure (possibly in download form).
