I don't have a specific pattern name for you but if you are comfortable doing your own designing I can give you the concept. You would start a square with probably 3 stitches for the base of the leaf --- the base would be the end with those yarn over for holes to give the appearance of a stem.
I can't tell from your picture if the background is reverse stockinette or garter but as the shape of the leaf is built, the square is enlarged by increasing either at both ends every other row or at one end every row until you get to the middle of the leaf, then you start decreasing as the leaf shape is decreased coming to the end of the square at the point of the leaf. These squares are then joined with the stem ends facing each other to create a 4-petal flower look. If any of your counterpane patterns has a similar leaf pattern you can adapt it to create squares. |

I found something very similar to what you're looking for. It's call Knitted Lace Blanket. The booklet was published in 1987, but you may be able to Google it to find it. The one in your picture is rectangular and the one I have is made in 4 triangles that form a square.
Hope this helps. Shari |

Hessa,
I have been fascinated with the leaf design since we found an antique coverlet for a full sized bed stored at my mother in law's house. I found the hand typed (from before computers obviously) directions, but I gave the directions away with the bedspread which we sold at her estate sale. I found a similar baby pattern a few years ago. It is a pamphlet by Sirdar. It uses Sidar Snuggly and is pamphlet 3266. I do not see a date on it, but I bought it new in about 2000. Rita Mc |
