Does anyone have a clever suggestion? I've just finished the "Jess's Gansey" from the Winter IK. EXCEPT for the neckband. It's hemmed with a picot edge and I can't get the inside band finished with an elastic enough edge to go over a normal head. A standard cast off is way too tight. A tubular cast off is still too tight and doesn't really work very well because the inside band is stockinette and not ribbing. I'm thinking I could rip back the inside band and do it in ribbing, or I could hem down the stitches without an additional bind off, or... Any suggestions would be welcome

This is fiddly but might work for you. sew down the hem through each un cast off stitch slipping them one at a time from the needle and see if that works.

Thanks Dances. That is about what I had decided, but some reassurance is good. And as for fiddly, the whole project has been fiddly so a little more is only to be expected. I really like the look of it though.
