I am now on to the next sweater and need to finish this one up before returning to Alaska in a few weeks. I have just joined the sleeves to the body and am knitting a bit before I start the yoke and decreasing.

My question:

EZ has two options of decreasing 3 times or 4 times in the yoke.

Any opinions on either of these options?

I like a gradual decrease in the yoke, and usually go with the "4 times" option. Have found that the "3 times" system sometimes creates an uneven fabric, with bumps that even blocking does not remove. But on projects with very thick yarn and less stitches (Icelandic sweaters come to mind) 3 decrease rows would do, I am sure.

Hi Strikker,

Thanks! This sweater is a bit over 5 sts to the inch in worsted. At first I thought 4 times would be best and then last night I started to think 3 times would be fine, but before I read your message I was on the way back to 4 times.

I can always pull it out if I don't like it! I need to finish a few rounds and will then start the decreasing!

I had to pull the yoke out as it was to puckered for my liking. But before I frogged I tried on my sweater which fits perfect. I just need to carry loser---not a big deal!

I do love it when the sweater fits perfect and YES John no pattern! The percentage system is the way to go for me!
