I completed the two silk sweaters. One is a shell, the other a cardigan and they both turned out just right! I did them both seamless with tapering on the side of each sweater. I also stretched the shell when I blocked it - the finished product doesn't seem to stretch that way. I haven't had trouble with the cardigan stretching either. Just thought I'd follow up on my original question. Thanks for the hints from everyone.
