Hi All,
Please help me with this pattern stitch.
It's for a sweater called "Men's Irish Cardigan" featured on www.knitting-crochet.com.
I'm knitting it for TKGA's Professional Finishing Techniques Course.

Row 1: P2; *skip next st, k in BACK LOOP of next st, k skipped st (TWIST STITCH); k3, p2, repeat from * across Row.

I can't figure out how I would skip a stitch. Does that mean I slip it purlwise and bring it back to the left needle after knitting into the back loop of the second stitch?
Or do I leave the first stitch alone on the left needle, knit into the back loop of the second stitch without slipping it off, then knit the first stitch and slip them off onto the right needle together?

I'm sitting here with yarn and needles in hand and nothing I do feels right when trying this technique. It's just got to be easier then I am making it.
Thank you so much for any help.
Theresa

What the instructions are telling you to do is instead of inserting your working needle tip into the first stitch on the holding needle, insert it through the back loop of the second stitch on the holding needle. Work the stitch as a knit stitch but don't drop any loops off your holding needle just yet. Then insert your working needle tip into the front loop of the first needle, work it as a knit stitch and then slip both loops off the holding needle.

Voila -- a 2-stitch cable.

KT,
Thank you so much for your help!
I've practicing this stitch how you describe and it's coming out nicely.
I think the crucial thing is to have just enough yarn slack coming through the back loop of the 2nd stitch to be able to come around and knit the first stitch without feeling like I am wrestling the thing into a knot.
Thanks again for your help with this and have a great day!
Theresa
