As so many of you know we work in rural Alaska and the only way you can get to the village we work in is by plane. Almost all our food is flown in, so I am always mailing things.

This summer we were working on a house in Montana. I mailed several boxes from Montana back up here to our home. IT TAKES ABOUT 3 WEEKS for the boxes to arrive..........

OK things never to do:

Mail your knitting journal back in one of those boxes that tells you the size needles you used for a sweater that I just ripped out the button band to now do correctly! Hmmmm so does it look like 7 hmmmmm not sure!

Mail your needles back and not carry them with you! Now I am waiting to start several projects or finish ones but don't have the correct needle size.

Mail the new hat patterns back you can not wait to get your hands on but since you don't have any needles I guess this is ok.

To top it all off the yarn is yes in one of those boxes UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, I do have a lot of knitting to look forward to. Now to figure out what size needle I knitted this sweater in so I can fix the button hole band . . .

Auntie Carrot,

(Love that name) I know I went right to Raverly figuring oh no biggie I am sure I have this sweater posted there---NO! I hadn't gotten around to that yet----learned my lesson!

I can always just fish for salmon to fill up my freezer until the needles, yarn, journal, and patterns show up.

YES!

The other day all my boxes finally showed up! I have yarn, needles, and the other items I sent up here. Like this year I will no long be using stove top stuffing boxes for trash cans in the bathrooms. I have nice whicker ones now that made it here because they were packed with yarn!

I really need to get knitting as I have too many UFO, and lots of yarn! Oh how wonderful! :-)

I would probably starve to death, or at least have to become a vegatarian, if I lived where you do! That's because I can't eat fish. Can't stand the smell or taste of it. Whenever someone reheats fish in the microwave at work, the smell in the air makes me almost gag. I suspect I might have a fish allergy, because I've always been like this. I know really fresh fish shouldn't smell "fishy", and when I was a kid, my mom would get fish fresh from our local market and I couldn't eat it either. I love chicken and beef and I know both are difficult to get up your way.
Now my hubby on the other hand, would just adore being asked to a salmon dinner at your house! Big Grin

I'm the opposite. I could live on fish and shellfish alone--keep your fruits and veggies, your cereals, and your meats!

Exception: I do need chocolate.:-)

Peggy,
I hear you about the chocolate! One of life's essential ingredients. But I think, at least with this group, that goes without saying. Wink

Funny! I can say that fresh fish smells like fish!

We have organic produce flown in each week and it makes life wonderful out here.

I agree chocolate is a food group!
