I grew up in logging camps way up the river from a town and remember making the long lists of things to get while in town. For me, chocolate was never one of them, but I admit to being strange.
Once, Mom got new crochet hooks but left the yarn at an aunts. I got a pattern but left the needles with Mom's yarn. Dad got his cigarettes and new lighter but forgot the lighter fluid and we all knew that he'd go nuts when we were suppposed to go out picking huckleberries for the weekend if he couldn't smoke. Then we discovered we had forgotten to buy the buckets for the berries. It isn't fun being 3 hours from town on good days and 5 if the weather was bad and that was driving, not flying. Sure loved to live there though.
Have always thought I should have just gone to ALaska when I had the chance after beauty school. Was offered a job there and in Australia, anybody got a turn back clock?

I dream of climbing mountains, hunting and going fishing with the kids. Then I wake up.

Lady,

I agree Alaska is a place all its own. I really do love being way out here as life is very simple yet we are busy all the time. You do have to plan but now with the internet shopping is pretty easy----not cheap but easy.
