I know I will not have Level 1 done by July, which is when I got the instructions last year. Do I need to wait until July or can I see if there are updated instructions now?

Thanks.

Thanks, Arenda.

I finally got the first swatch done and labeled last night! Took long enough!

I have a couple of questions answered and I've read over the rest of the level, but haven't done anything with it yet.

Shari, 9 months to do one swatch? I don't know what to say, except, um, well, I'm speechless.

Seriously, I suspect you've done more than that since last July. Probably like I'm going to do, remake most of my swatches. I have them all knit, but most I feel I could redo better, so I'm going to either rip and reknit, or just make a fresh batch. Maybe the second option so I have something to compare it to. I started my report but the questions I've read over several times but haven't really answered them. I'm saving that for after I'm done with the swatches since most questions can't be answered til then anyway.

Oh Shari...i feel your pain. i ordered my Level 1, the first time.....looked at it.. got prepared..bought the yarn, notebook, new needles....couple new refernece books and a fun new ream of paper....yeah right....too intimidated. So it sat on my coffee table then eventually it moved to the book shelf. Last December 2007..I decided this was my year to complete my Level 1...welllllll I back peddled and ordered Basics, Basics, Basics....and just submitted lesson 1..yesterday..I felt sooooo good I made Level 1 Swatch last night...answered most of the questions...alot of research from Basics really helped me. I found from the Basics course I did all the swatches and then tried to answer questions ...let me tell ya I should have tried to get the answers first(unless you needed the 2 swatches to compare against each other) which actually helped me Redo the swatches much better the second round.
Good luck and if ya need someone to vent I am here.

Diana, I ordered Level 1 when my best friend of 30 years was still here. She passed away July 27 at the age of 49 (my age) and I'm still crying. Don't expect to lose your friends at that young age.

Since I ordered Level 1 I've finished 3 blankets and started a fourth. So, yes, I've done a lot since I got Level 1 and that's with redoing the first swatch.

I'm trying to answer the questions as I do the swatches. This way I don't have all of them to do at the same time.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Shari.

I think your idea of grouping the questions with the swatches is a good one. I'm doing that with my Level 2, and it's going pretty well so far.

Shari,
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope you know I was only joking about working so long on one swatch. If you put my name instead of yours at the bottom of your post it would have been just as true. I think that came out right.
Anyway, I do understand how you feel. You should never lose family or friends that soon.

I figured you were kidding, Diana.

But I did get a lot done, 3 blankets, while I was trying to get to the swatches. So I got 3 blankets, 1 swatch and 1 redone swatch done in 9 months. Not bad!

I'm trying to do the swatches and work on the questions at the same time so I don't have all the questions at the end of all the swatches.

Shari,
I knit one afghan for my Hubby and I swore I would never do that again! He is tall and I'm not fast, but it took me from start to finish almost three years. Not that I knitted on it every day! I put it away a few times because it was putting me to sleep working on it and it was hot work in the summer. Total working time was more like 5-6 months if I remember correctly. He wanted a zigzag style so it was all stockinette, no lace, no patterning. Just increases and decreases on each right side row to make zigzags. "snore"!
My way of saying I'm suitably impressed that you got more than one blanket done!

Hi Diana,

I cheated. Two of them were already started and were supposed to go to Project Linus. I just had to finish them. The other one was a quick and mindless one and only took 2 months from start to finish.

Now currently working on a Holly Afghan for company Christmas party raffle. Going nuts with the chart since it's worked in two different directions.

Hi Shari,
A Christmas afghan. Hmm, sounds nice. I love Christmas. My hubby gets wound up if he sees Christmas ads at the craft stores in July. I can only imagine his reaction if I was making Christmas stuff in April.
And it's not cheating to work on a project that's already started. You were just "finishing" Razzer

Took me about 18 months to do Level I. Recently I got an updated copy of Level II, as I've begun and re-begun several swatches and projects, and now I have to admit that I won't be done by the 2 year mark on this level.

The entire process is a procrastinator's paradise. So many, many reasons to delay, pause, redo... and especially to overthink! (Got alot of non MK projects done while procrastinating though!)

But I still love it!

Jude,
Boy, you got the procrastination part of it right! Just last night, after a visiting friend left, I said I was going in the living room to work on my swatches, and promptly sat down to read the paper!?! Maybe tonight. Wink

hey all....I got my basics lesson 2 last night...so i packed my needles and yarn in the lunch bag..it is gonna rain today so I will forego the walk at lunchtime to start my second lesson swatchs . My little girl is gonna be gone this weekend so I am determined to get these done and send them out by Monday morning. I may just get this done before the the beginning of May. Then my goal is to complete the Masters throughout the summer.
