Hi everybody. I'm just starting Level 1 of the Master program and having fun, although a little overwhelmed. I have been looking around on the message boards - you are all a great help! - and wanted to say hello to everyone. Also wondering what cast on any of you prefer for seed stitch. I did swatch 3 and it looks good, except the cast on edge is a bit tight for my liking. I used the long tail cast on. Any suggestions for a more elastic one?
You could either find ways to make your long-tail looser, or you could look through a reference book/website or two, pick some candidates, and *try them out* -- that experimental side of knitting is one of the aspects that the Master program has really helped me enjoy.
Hi Colleen. I've decided to start the program, also and I just placed my order for level I. I hate writing reports, so I'm a little nervous about that part, but I really want to improve my knitting and I think this will be a great experience. I took the basics course in 2006 and now I think I'm ready for a new challenge. I'm giving myself a goal to finish it before the end of this year...we'll see how that works out.

Racheljean, Don't let the report bother you. I'm not much of a report writer either but I did it. They aren't like your average English teacher, looking for every grammer or spelling error, or mistake in context. You just need to write well enough to be understood. All the committee wants to see is that you understand the why's and how's of blocking. If you can do that, that's all you need to do.

Thanks for the pep talk, Diana. I'm sure I can do it - after all I've helped my daughters with quite a few of their reports over the years..they're now in 7th and 9th grade. They haven't failed yet. LOL.
