I have been hand knitting all my life. Well at least 15-20 years. I have completed the Masters Hand Knitting program and now I have found myself extremely interested in machine knitting.
I have never tried machine knitted, and I don't know of anyone in my area that machine knits. I live in Novi, Michigan 48375. I do not know of any dealers in the area (have not looked that hard). My main question is "how do I start": finding the right machine, a dealer, and someone who will help me to get started on the machine. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced. Andrea |

Andrea,
Just came across your post today. Most of the dealers in this area went out of business. There is one dealer in Lathrup Village here's a link to her website http://www.yarns-and.com/index.htm Before, you buy a machine you need to decide what you want to make and what yarns you like to use (bulky, sport or lace). There were many brands of machines made, however, several of the manufactures went out of business around 2000. Silver Reed and Artisan machines are still made. Brother & Passap made machines and you can still find them used. There are many machine knitting groups on Yahoo, some for selling used machines and parts. You see them on Ebay too. I've been machine knitting since 1987. I'm sort of in the area, I live in Pinckney, MI 48169. Hope this helps, I'll try to answer any other questions. Lynn |
