Hi all,
I have both a Brother 230 (that I am fairly proficient on) and a Brother 910 that I am just trying to figure out. I don't care much about the electronic capabilities (I bought the machines years ago used at a very good price) but I would like to knit finer-gauge wools than the 230 will handle.
I am having trouble casting on with open stitches--the initial strand does not stay put in the needles long enough to drop the cast-on comb. If I manually cast on I can knit reasonably well, although I occasionally have a strand get caught up on a gate peg. Any helpful hints for either casting on and for strands catching on gate pegs? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Laura-
Since you haven't gotten any responses in a couple of days, you might want to try the Machine Knitters board at Ravelry.

Thanks, Baa Baa--I seem to have figured it out, I am knitting away; also have queries out to some other machine knitters. Just thought I'd troll for tips!
