The question a few weeks ago about a good reference for seams prompted this discussion. So I'll make the first entry. There is an excellent article in Interweave Knits by Charlotte Morris on seams. It also includes information about seed stitch seams.
Interweave Knits, Spring 2002, pages 68-70.
When I checked the Interweave Knits website, back issues of this magazine were still available.
If you are a subscriber to Interweave Knits, on the address label of your magazine you will find a "Subscriber-Only Website Password" which changes with each issue. This subscriber password allows you to go to the subscriber section of the website. In this section you will find copies of past "Back to the Basics" articles from the magazine. One of these articles is the seaming article(s) mentioned by Arenda (there is a part I and a part II - but part I is the one she mentioned). There are also other articles in this Back to the Basics series which are very useful. There are other topics in this subscriber only section which also contain useful information.
Since I wrote the previous message about Interweave Press having the "Beyond the Basics" information in a "subscribers only" section, they have done away with this feature and the file. This is unfortunately sad because there were some very good articles in that series.
Janet Szabo's book, The 'I hate to Finnish Sweaters' Guide to Finishing Sweaters is an excellent source for seams of all sorts, as well as initial setting up of a pattern to minimize the impact of seaming. She has chapters on grafting, collars, hems, lots more.
You can purchase the book directly from her (google Big Sky Knitting Designs)which is always a nice thing to do for self/small publishers. Her book on Aran design is also very good.

The next three On Your Way to the Masters articles will deal with seams. If anyone is having a problem with seams and can't find a source, let me know.
